So Far......

Monday morning the kids woke up in pretty good moods. The boys slept well because they were so worn out from their trip with dad on Sunday. They got dressed, ate breakfast and we were out the door. I dropped Cody off at a friends house so they could walk to the bus stop together, their bus comes about 30 minutes later than Sam's. I then took Brady to daycare and we headed to drop Sam off at school. Sam at first told me that he didn't want me to walk him in but after I was in line to drop him off in front of the school, he decided that he wanted me to go with him. At that point, I couldn't just leave the van there to block traffic and I couldn't get out because of the cars in front and behind me. Ashley didn't help with the "teenager" attitude that she is more important than anyone else and keep nagging him to get out. He got out of the van and went inside. I then dropped Ashley off and made it to work with 5 minutes to spare. (I had warned them that I may be late) I felt like a bad mommy all day long for not going in with Sam.
Lee ended up getting home before Sam and I think that Sam was disappointed because he is coming home alone, getting the key from our "secret" spot and letting himself in. So when he got here and dad was home, he had to wait an extra day to feel like a "grown up". Cody on the other hand, missed the bus home along with 3 other kids from our apartment and they decided to walk home. Keep in mind that the middle school is about 7 miles away. I have no clue that this is happening until I call home and find out that Cody didn't get off the bus. I frantically start calling his friends and noone knows where he is. I then call the school and they can't find him. At that point I have Ashley get in the car and go to the school and look for him herself (I am in Austin). I finally get a call from her saying that he was at home, him and friends started to walk and his friends mom's boyfriend picked them up on the side of the road. They had made it about 3 miles and had started to walk along the access road to the interstate. I can't remember ever being so mad and relieved at the same time. By the time that i get home, Lee has already let him have it and Cody is crying in his room. He said that he was scared and just followed what the other kids did. Apparantly, he called the house but Lee was taking a nap and Sam was following directions when he didn't answer the phone He knows not to unless it is mom, dad or Ashley. I explained to Cody that if he misses the bus again to stay at the school and we will come get him. I also showed Sam the name and number for the school that came up on the caller ID, so he knows in the future.

Tuesday went by with no action......

This week was the last week of my summer hours, so today I got off at noon. I made it home and started cleaning because the manager is coming by at 4 to inspect our apartment. Our apartment was randomly chosen to be inspected by the Texas apartment association so our manager wanted to come by first and see if anything needed to be replaced before the big inspection. So here I am cleaning (you know the things you put off till the last minute). I mopped, dusted, vaccummed, cleaned the bathrooms, folded clothes, wiped down cabinets, you name it and I did it. I finished up around 2:30 and went to get Cody from school. We went to the orthodontist for his consultation. The orthodontist came in the room and looked in Cody's mouth and when he said "Wow", I knew it wasn't good. They then took Cody to get x-rayed and came back. Cody has a severe underbite. He said that part of it is caused by him being more of a mouth breather than a nose breather and the x rays showed that he has 2 teeth on the top of each side that have no room to come through. Because he lost his baby teeth so young, and the big teeth were not ready to come through, the space where the baby teeth were closed in. So he has those 2 teeth on both sides that need to come through but can't because there is no room. He needs spacers and braces. Once they get the spacers and braces in, it will create room for those teeth to come though and his top jaw will then move forward to cure the underbite. The first appointment we have to pay $250 dollars so the doctor can get all his medical records and x-rays. Then about 4 weeks later we have another appointment where his explains everything to us and Cody will get the spacers, that day we have to pay $500. After that we can make payments on the rest. Keep in mind that I do have dental insurance and the total of this is going to be around $6000 but because of my insurance we will only pay around $1500. The doctor said that he is going to have braces on top and bottom for at least 30 months. He also said that if we had waited until Cody was 16-17, they would definately have to break his jaw.

Lee had his coaches meeting tonight. His team is the Patriots and they practice on Wednesdays. Cody & Sam are both on his team. He is so excited!!

Ashley worked tonight and the first football game is tomorrow night in North Austin. We are planning on going to all of the home games so we can see the band in the halftime show. I will video tape so you can see.

OK, I think i have caught up on all of the news with our family. Hope everyone is doing fine. Love ya!!!
