Busy day

Today was pretty busy. I took a vacation day so I could take Brady to the speech pathologist. His appointment was at 8:45 so we arrived at 8:20 to fill out paperwork. We met with the speech pathologist and she talked to Brady and then showed him a book with pictures and asked him to tell her what the pictures were. After she was finished, we talked and she told me that she does hear a slight speech problem but nothing that can't be taken care of easily. She is going to write up the report and send it to his pediatrician to approve. We should hear something within a few weeks. As soon as we do, I am going to contact the school about Pre-k.
We left the office and went to Cody's old school (he will be going to a new school since he is now in the 6th grade) to pick up his report card that he left on his desk the last day of school. I had wondered if he left it on purpose because it wasn't very good, but realized when I picked it up that he just simply forgot it. They weren't the greatest grades, but if you know Cody, you would understand that he would much rather play sports than concentrate on his grades. We have spoken to him and let him know that if he wants to play sports in middle and high school that he has to work on his grades.
We left that school and went to Ashley's school to pick up a VOE (verification of enrollment) so she could get her license. They wouldn't give it to me since she had to sign it so we came back to the house and had to wait for her to primp and get ready. We went back to her school and picked up the VOE and headed to cash her check. We then went to the DMV and she got her license. I still don't think she is quite ready to drive alone so I told her that she still has to drive with one of us for a while. That didn't make her too happy but she agreed. She was very thoughtful and bought us all lunch. She even tried to call her dad at work to see if he wanted us to bring him something but he was in a meeting.
This afternoon, I took her to look at cars so she can realize that she is not going to be able to afford a new one. She was very disappointed but I have tried to explain it to her a hundred times that she doesn't need a nice looking car for her first car. But she is a 16 year old girl who thinks that she has to be "COOL".
Cody and Sam have practice tomorrow and are excited to get to wear their new basketball shoes.
Not much else going on.

Whew! you make me tired just reading your blog. So busy running around, but they are the memories you will teasure.

Ashley driving - scary, huh? I remember when my girls started driving - scared me to death. This baby that you diapered is now in charge of the huge machine. Ahhh! Motherhood is great except for potty training and teaching to drive. :)

I so relate to Ashley - I wanted that new car as well! Instead I got my parents old car...and while it ran and got me from point a to point b - no one was begging for a ride from me! ha ha! (and I won't even go into the summer of no air conditioner!) If anything, it will make her treasure her new car when she finally does get one!
