I took Friday off for Cody's orthodontist appointment. We arrived at 10:20 and got signed in. They took us to a room and we filled out the paper work and made a payment. Good news is that it is only going to cost us $3600 not the $4200 I mentioned before. We got the payment arrangements set up and we were off to another room. He only got his bottom braces because he has 2 teeth in the roof of his mouth that are coming in sideways and need to be cut out. We made the appointment with the oral surgeon and will see him on the 28th for a consultation. He also has a tiny spot on one of his bottom teeth, so the orthodontist wants us to go see the regular dentist because when he puts the braces on the top, he puts a coating on the bottom teeth and doesn't want to cover that up in case it is a small cavity. I will make that appointment tomorrow. The othodontist told me that the reason he has an underbite is beacuse he lost some baby teeth way to early and his jaw closed up before the permanent teeth came in. Thos are the 2 teeth that are just hanging out in the roof of his mouth. Anyway, here are a couple pictures that I took.
He looks like and alien and I couldn't stop laughing (he did give me permission to take this picture so I could show his dad and brothers:)
He chose blue and gray as his bands for his school colors.
We go back to the orthodontist on the 25th for adjustment and expanders. Hopefully within a month, he will have his top braces. He hasn't complained much about pain and in fact he was starving when we got done so we went to Subway. He is doing good about brushing and making sure he gets all of the food out of them. He seems to like them, I have noticed that he is always rubbing his tongue over them. I hope that this will raise his self esteem and he will never be embarrassed to smile when he is older.
Tomorrow, we are all of because of President's day. Nothing planned, just going to hang around the house.
